1. The boppy pillow. The boppy is an item I used from day one in the hospital. It was so helpful when it came to breastfeeding. I use it every time I feed Kayleigh. It is also nice to have to put under your arms while holding baby. Six pounds baby or not, your arms are going to get tired after awhile. So resting your arms on the pillow will help it so that your arms don't get fatigued so quickly.
2. The Munchkin Nursery Projectoer and Sound System. Also a great thing to have! It helps create an ideal sleeping environment for your baby. It plays a variety of sounds from white noise, to different lullabies. Kayleigh really loves the white noise, and it usually puts her to sleep pretty quickly. Not only does this machine play sounds, it also projects different images onto the ceiling for baby to look at while they are falling asleep. We leave ours on all night. It also helps you when you have to get up in the middle of the night for feedings and changing diapers. It gives you enough light that you don't have to stumble around in the dark. We took this with us when we traveled to Texas for the first time. It was a little piece of home for her that was familiar. I really would suggest this to any mom!
3. The Summer infant bath seat. Giving your newborn his/her first bath for the first time can be a bit nerve racking. I know I was a bit nervous. But if you have a good bath seat, you really don't have to worry about a lot. With the Summer infant bath seat all I did was started to bath like you normally would and set the bath seat in the tub. I filled up the little hospital bath they give you with water and added a bit of baby soap to it. Then place them on the seat and scrub a dub dub! I just dipped a wash rag into the water in the hospital tub and used that to clean her. She hated her first bath, which worried me! I was afraid it would be like that every time I bathed her. But, now she loves baths. So much, sometimes she falls asleep while i'm bathing her. This bath seat is great and cheap! I love it!
4. The Sakura Bloom Ring Sling. I knew I wanted a baby carrier, but finding the "right one" was quite the task. I wanted us to both be comfortable. I now have the Ergo, an Infantino, the Moby and now the Sakura Bloom Ring Sling. I absolutely LOVE the ring sling! It is so easy to use and is very light weight. Kayleigh is naturally warm, so I didn't want anything to heavy and thick that would make us both sweat up a storm. But, the SBRS is very light weight and is very breathable. There are tons of "how to" videos on YouTube and a variety of carries you can do with it. It is my go to carrier for sure! It is always in my diaper bag. I love it!
5. The Ingenuity by Bright Starts Cozy Coo Sway Seat. This swing is great! It sways side to side instead of front to back. It is suppose to mimic the sways of the mother (or father) to get your little one to sleep. It has a vibrate setting that vibrates the seat and it has a setting to play lullabies and white noise. You can even adjust the volume on it, which is really nice. It allows you to set a timer for the swing itself. You can set it up to an hour. It's great to have for nap times when you want to free up your hands. It's very comforting to them and allows you to do what you need to do while they sway away! :)
